As a family, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has always been our favorite charity to give our time and money to, solely based on the fact that we have several friends who have benefited from the work they do there to help cure debilitating diseases in children.

They do the research and care for all patients referred to St. Jude and they never charge the families a penny for their care or room and board. They do this so the children can focus on getting well, and the parents can focus on helping their children get well.

Dalton’s Obituary

Dalton John Lambrecht

April 25th, 1998 – December 29th, 2013

 Our beautiful son was just fifteen years old when he passed,

content with a lifetime of experience and a huge heart of love for others.

When Dalton jumped the dune on Sunday, December 29th,

he had no idea that a huge sand rail was coming up the other side.

We’re told it was instant, that he didn’t suffer at all.

His dad held him while he took his last breath and went to heaven.

Dalton died doing what he loved and we couldn’t have asked for a better way for him to go.

He will forever Ride In Paradise…

 He is survived by his proud parents, John and Roni Lambrecht,

his grandparents, Jean and Charles Bradfute, Ron and Denise Wing,

and Chaines Lambrecht, his aunties, uncles, cousins,

and better friends than anyone could ever dream of having,

and his dog, Daxton.

  1. I have always been a big proponent of “Pay It Forward” and just a few minutes ago I was behind a vehicle with those 3 words abbreviated on a license plate. Also Dalton’s stocker was on the back windshield, which gained my interest sonI made a Google search and came across this page. I had a close family member pass away in a very similar way as Dalton. I love your attitude toward life and how you are honoring Dalton’s memory. God Bless you, and may we all pay it forward.

  2. For a while now I had not been able to donate money to any cause that rugged on my heart strings. I met you at the closing of my one and only property of 19years and although you were pressed for time, a smile with stood on your face and as I glanced over I saw this original looking tattoo on your arm. It also appeared to be something a child would write as a note on their arm. So I asked and you kindly spoke to all sitting around the table about your precious son.

    A week later I came across a fundraiser my cousin had posted about two men, who were finally after many years, able to adopt. Of course they choose an older brother and sister who has been overlooked and we’re getting old enough to be out of the adoption system. One of the men developed spinal menegitous and passed within days of onset. The story was legit and sure enough there was an article posted in the local Oklahoma newspaper as well a photo of the judge, the to men, and their now to children. The children were adopted in January of 2018 and the young man passed on June 20th. Because God is good I was able to finally donate and thank you for sharing your heart.!

    • Oh, Maureen, it was so great to meet you last week. I could feel your heart from the moment you walked in the room and was so sorry to be so rushed. Thank you for remembering and following up. (I’m not allowed to do that unless the client contacts me first😬. )

  3. Today I was having my son’s bike tire repaired, again. A young man came in with his bike that he carried from his home with two flat tires. After talking to him, I learned he works at a fast food restaurant and his bike is his primary transportation. The guys at the shop did all they could to bring the repair cost down for him, but I could tell it was still a burden for him. I thought of you and of Dalton and remembered the pay it forward cards I’ve been carrying around and paid for his bike to be repaired. My kids are so fortunate to need for nothing, it felt great to do something for someone who needed it. Thank you for inspiring me.

  5. Our coffee machine was on the fritz this morning and my husband asked me to pick up Starbucks while he tried to get it working. When I placed my order at the local Starbucks on Alameda the kind and sweet man at the register told me about Dalton’s mom’s generous gift and gave me a card that touched my heart. I asked to pay my order forward because I wanted others to benefit and hear this story. My husband and I lost our precious Lt Tyler Lewis Peterson in 2008, just before Thanksgiving. It was devastating. Your approach to keeping Dalton’s memory alive is so beautiful. We have run the Walt Disney World Marathon for the last 9 years to do the same – keep Tyler alive in all our hearts. I’m blessed to have had the opportunity to meet Dalton today and I will remember.   7. I am in Toastmasters with Roni. Yesterday she gave a loving talk about Dalton. And challenged all of us to do something special for Dalton’s legacy. I had left the card at work so I did not pass it along; however, I had to stop for gas this morning on my way to work. Someone in the next lane “filled up”. At first I was reticent to pay for someone else’s full tank of gas as well. I immediately remembered how gentle Roni is, so I paid for both of us. The gal was absolutely blown away. And I felt Dalton smiling. And I was happy.

  8. Dalton’s mother came in to eat at Chili’s a few weeks ago, and I was her server. She proudly told me her son’s story, and then left the pay-it-forward card for me. She was so nice, and I could tell she loves her son very much, so I wanted to pass on a kind act in his honor. I also wanted to spread Dalton’s message as far as possible. I’m currently travelling back to Denver from my holiday vacation, and while passing through Asheville, North Carolina I paid the tab for a stranger’s lunch. I gave them the card and encouraged them to do same for someone else. I didn’t get to meet Dalton, but hopefully his message of kindness will continue to spread and his love will live on!!

  9. This story of Dalton breaks my heart, didn’t know him but from the posts above, seemed like an amazing, kind, sweet, thoughtful unique soul! I’m glad to share my pay it forward story in honor of him. I go to Starbucks maybe once a week, I pick up drinks for co-workers as well. Today the car in front of the drive through paid for my order. It was totally unexpected but one of those gestures that warms your heart and gives the reassuring feeling that there are still kind, considerate people in this world. So I kept it going and paid for the car behind me. These simple yet kind gestures do not go unnoticed and can make a huge impact in someones life! Keep paying it forward. ❤

    A few weeks ago my husband Ahrlin and myself had to go to the store to get a tube of caulk, when we came out with our minor purchase there was a gentleman standing next to our pickup. As we approached he said that our pickup had been hit and the person just kept driving, but he did get his license plate number. Long story short in the end they did locate the car that hit our truck, was a teenager his parents made sure he would own up to his faults. We meet with this young man and his mother today, he was a very sweet boy junior in HS, planning a bright career, works and plays sports. We had settled on a amount much lower and didn’t want to involve his insurance as that would just make a big black mark on his record. We really wanted to let this boy know that we are not mad or hold any bad feelings, we respect that his parents are teaching a lesson. We accepted his check and we in return gave him money and a DoitforDalton pay it forward card, and asked him to buy someone lunch, coffee or whatever. He said he would and would even go to his youth group and tell them the about the experience. As we said it could have been so much worse, no one was hurt and I believe a lesson well learned. I really respect this young man and his parents, he will go far in life… Love is tough at times…

    I have a wonderful friend supporting two boys on her own who is experiencing great troubles with one being very depressed and the older brother being a non-supporter and emotional stresser. I have purchased a massage gift card to give to the mother that will show my support. and offer some stress relief. I have included a DIFDL card to offer some remembrance of his wonderful and helpful/giving spirit.

    I’m writing to let you know about how Kaden Smith helped us out these last few weeks. He is such a kind and thoughtful young man. He frequently comes over to say hello and visit, which is not that common for a teenager! We appreciate that he is paying it forward for Dalton Lambrect who we understand was a wonderful young man who was taken from us far to soon.
    These past few weeks, Kaden has mowed our lawn and taken our dog for walks when we couldn’t get home to let her out. These two acts of kindness have been small miracles, especially where our dog is concerned. Kaden performs these acts quietly and thoughtfully.

    I am writing to confirm that Kaden Smith moved my lawn for me this weekend. It was a pleasant surprise to have one less chore for the weekend. I was sad to hear of the untimely loss of Kaden’s friend at such a young age. I applaud the development of a Pay it Forward program for the values it can teach both students as well as adults.

    Kaden Smith has completed a good deed (mowing the lawn) for the Filmore family and he wished for nothing in return. His only want was that you pass on this card, along with a good deed, to someone else in need. It can be as big or small a deed as you would like to make it. As the recipient of a random act of kindness, words cannot express how touched we were after hearing about Dalton Lambrecht and how Kaden took the opportunity to honor Dalton by ‘Paying It Forward’. As a result of Kaden’s random act of kindness, we have committed to doing our part to keep Dalton’s name and legacy alive.     After a long week of travel and desperately needing my morning Starbucks fix this morning, I pulled into the long line that is typical at this particular Starbucks and was so pleasantly surprised when I went to pay I was told the lady in front of me had paid my bill. The server at the window passed along a business card showing In Loving Memory of Dalton Lambrecht and to pay it forward. Such a gracious thing to do and much appreciated! I always try to pay it forward on a regular basis but this simple act of kindness gives me renewed faith that others do the same. God Bless!

    Today I was in a coffee meeting for work. When I went to pay our check my pay it foward cards fell out of my wallet. At that moment I felt compelled to pay for the breakfast tab of young mother and her 3 children seated a few tables away.
    I hope my gesture lifted them up as much as lifted me. I hope they are able to continue the gesture and pay it foward as well.

    A lady I work with has had a series of unfortunate events with her car this year. The last was leaving her sunroof open the weekend we received our rain/snow storms and she was just broken. Earlier that weekend I attended a charity auction and purchased a gift card to a salon downtown. Thinking of Dalton, I gave it to her that following Tuesday saying she needed to go get a pick-me-up after all the grief her car problems have been. She was grateful beyond words. Thanks Dalton for inspiring me to pay it forward!

    An elderly man happened to be seated alone, next to us at dinner. Tasia and I had a good long chat about our Grandpa Bay and DIFDL and anonymously bought his dinner. I got your cards when we got home. I’ve got them in my wallet now so I’ll have them for all future “payments. ❤ It was a treat to get to overhear his reaction when told he’d been treated to dinner.”

    In memory of a very special person, the Navigator Team of RHMS dedicates our ‘Pay it Forward’ community service project to Dalton. 158 kids have payed it forward multiple times! Kindness is contagious. Thank you, Dalton.

  11. We talk about Dalton to people at Magic Rabbic, when they see our buttons, wristbands and cards, we pass out cards. MANY customers (including officers) have returned to tell us their “Dalton” stories and several have commented that this website is not working. So I am testing it on their behalf AND as a reminder that the Leung’s family & Scott’s family have met many of Dalton’s friends and we want you to know that he is doing some good work at the Highlands Ranch store!

  12. I prepared a meal for someone special that is going through a difficult time health wises. It is a gift that I have been on the receiving end of when my mom passed in 2009 that was priceless at the time. When all seems so overwhelming, to not have to think about meal prep for your family is truly a kind gesture that is so deeply appreciated. I was cleaning out my kitchen today and found the DoItForDalton.com card that I got from our dry cleaner. I am going to take the card to my friend and ask that she do the same when she is able. Pay it Forward. We have two daughters, 10 and 16 years old. Please know you all are in my heart and your son’s legacy and spirit will live on through you and all who loved him. Also through strangers that want to do good on earth because of your pay it forward campaign on his behalf. I am certain he is smiling from above knowing how much you love him and how proud you are of him. Take care, and be well.

  14. I was eating at Blackeyed Pea feeling sorry for myself because my husband was killed in a trucking accident. When Dalton’s parents paid for my meal. I have done alot of pay it forward because people don’t always have things they need. But l have not do enough yet. My son said he didn’t want me to die with money left in the bank there are always people that need a kindness done for them like you did for me. Thank you with all my heart. Sharon

If it was just us, that would be one thing, but knowing so many people are struggling is awful, to say the least.   15. I was in the grocery store when these two young teenage kids were in line checking out. They had groceries for the family in the cart, it wasn’t just kids junk food, it was actual meals. They went to pay with the credit card they had, but it was declined. The clerk gave them a look and then called the manager who promptly embarrassed them by making a big deal of it. The kids went to the side to call their parents and the manager told the clerk to “clear the order” with an unwelcome tone in her voice. I stepped up and asked how much it was and then handed them my credit card. The boys didn’t need to be embarrassed like that, it wasn’t their fault the card was declined. My son had this card in his backpack from RHMS, I thought of you and your family to pay it forward.

  16. I was gifted my Pay It Forward card several months back at a car wash. A customer was unable to use her credit card and did not have cash. Her car was already in the line to enter the wash. I was behind her in the payment line and spontaneously paid for her car wash. The special moment of gratitude from the customer and then receiving the card from a special person still lingers. I heard about Dalton at that time and his family’s love. Thoughts are with you. Lynn

  17. Today I gave a Starbucks gift card to a person who was panhandling. As I gave it to him, he shared how he had helped someone else earlier today. We are all in it together.

Roni, I have been carrying around my DoItForDalton card and haven’t been in a situation to help, but on July 10 I was in Washington DC and there was a man who looked like he was in a huge hurry to buy a Metro ticket. I had just purchased 2 in anticipation of needing a return ticket, so I gave my other ticket to him instead. Mine was more of a random act of kindness, but who knows–maybe he really needed kindness that day!

  19. People want to be known for braveory, Strangth, Pride, etc. Dalton was never like that, He was better. He was a healer of anyone who had the littlest discontent for their life. Dalton was one of my first friends when I came to RHMS, I had a Art class right next to him. He would make magnificent sculptures and then give them to me when their graded. I told him he had a gift of pure talet. He told me that it’s no big deal. He always cared. Cared to much. Tomorrow I will wish my friend a happy 16th Birthday. The people that are going were chosen to go and their going for a reason. The reason is Dalton John Lambrecht.
